Me on Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa, Japan 2008

If your house was on fire and you could save one possession, what would it be?
Hmmm, tough one. I think my vintage dresses would be the first thing I grab.

What was your favourite subject in high school?

How long have you known your longest friend?
I moved around a lot when I was younger and changing school frequently was not really the perfect way to cement lasting friendships, so the oldest friend I have I have had for 13 years.

What was the best thing to happen to you today?
Today started off quite poorly, but I did manage to get out of a 2 hour training session so woop to that!

What was the best year of your life and why?
The best year of my life was 2006 – I moved to Okinawa, Japan and I learnt about being independent, falling in love (hard), making friends, a life without family and adapting to new environments. There was absolutely nothing about 2006 that didn’t amaze, frighten and confuse me. It was wonderful.

Which do you use more often, the dictionary or the thesaurus?

What's on the cover of your address book or day planner?
An illustration by Orla Kiely.

What did you have for lunch yesterday?
Yesterday I had a chicken breast, spinach wilted in garlic butter and topped with feta cheese.

Who's your favourite Care Bear?
I hate care bears.

Where were you on September 11, 2001?
I was off sick from school (grade 11) sitting on the floor in my living room watching the news crying buckets over the senseless violence.

What's the best bargain you've ever found at a garage sale or thrift store?
Church bazaar – bought 2 vintage dresses for R20 (about $1.20 or NOK10)

Do you want/do you have any children?
I don’t have children, I’d love to have one someday, sure.

You have got six months to live, what will you do first?
Move somewhere tropical – if I only have 6 months, I’d want them to be spent on one of the best beaches in the world.

What is your favourite way to spend an evening during your workweek?
Catching up on Mad Men or reading – both options involve a glass or three of red wine.

What do you think is the most important value in a relationship or friendship?
I’m not sure – respect probably.

What is your favorite childhood memory?
Driving to Zimbabwe in the dead of night in my parents yellow Ford Escort.

If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?
Well after my recent frolic in the country, I think I would buy a house to weekend in.

What songs are included on the soundtrack to your life?
Hardest question ever!
