ORIGINAL COCKTAILS: RECIPE + REVIEW + GIVEAWAY

Thursday, April 24, 2014

What better way to say a proper heartfelt farewell to summer (its FINALLY feeling like autumn in the Cape) than with some pretty pink drinks? I’m always on the hunt for yummy, but easy to make drinks for dinner parties & braai’s. This one has all the right notes: sweet, salty and tart. Using the Original Cocktails pre-mixed Margarita's means it literally takes about 3 minutes to whip up a batch of these.

The folks over at Original Cocktails have generously given me a hamper of cocktails to give away! To stand a chance to win, simply

The winner will be chosen on Wednesday 30 April!  Keep reading for the recipe & review!

Ingredients:

1 liter Original Cocktail's Margarita
1 lime cut into wedges
Kosher salt
2 cups ruby red grapefruit juice
4 cups of ice

Rub the lime around the rims of your glasses & dip the rim lightly in a plate of kosher salt, set aside to dry
Combine remaining ingredients in a blender
Puree until smooth
Pour into a large pitcher
Stir in 3 shots f tequila if you’d like an extra kick!

The lovely people at Original Cocktails sent me a box of their Singapore Sling to try swell, can I just say, having been to the Raffels Long Bar in Singapore and had a Singapore Sling in the bar of it's birth, the Original Cocktails Slings comes pretty darn close. Because their cocktails are mixed with real fruit juice they taste fresh and don't have that artificially sweet taste most pre-mixed drinks have.

Delish!
